Tesla Motors has opened its first supercharger station in Tennessee at Chattanooga Airport.

The Chattanooga station is an integral site along a route which will soon connect Chicago and Miami, according to the electric car maker. Superchargers are designed for inter-city travel, allowing Tesla Model S electric vehicle drivers to travel for about three hours, take a 20- to 30-minute break, and get back on the road charged up.

In May, airport officials entered into an agreement with Tesla for the installation of six rechargers in Lovell Field's intermediate parking lot. Tesla owners aren't charged a parking fee for two hours or less at the station.

Airport chief Terry Hart said Tesla is paying $588 per month for five years and $648 a month for years six through 10. Tesla was responsible for installation and maintenance of the recharging station.

Retro TV includes Orlando

Retro Television Inc., the Chattanooga-based television network operating under a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, added another low-power television station to its network Tuesday. Luken Communications, which owns Retro TV and a half dozen other networks of old television shows, cartoons and movies, said it has added WRCF-TV, Channel 29 in Orlando, Fla. Retro previously added stations this summer in Phoenix and Salt Lake City, bringing the network to 92 stations across the country.

"With the local demand for Retro TV, this was the perfect choice for WRCF," said William Milne, WRCF's general manager.
