The Southern Conference announced Wednesday the formation of the SoCon Digital Network to provide online access to league atheltic events, including those by University of Tennessee at Chattanooga teams.

The new online network, developed with provider NewLion, will provide high definition streaming of more than 400 live events as well as highlights, interviews and athlete profiles from throughout the league.

All content will be free to view, and will provide viewers a range of options to control broadcasts, such as DVR controls, picture-in-picture, slow motion, video on demand and live stats.

Initially, the 10 member schools will provide video from all home events in football, volleyball and men's and women's basketball. Additional sports will be added as schools add the staffing and equipment necessary.

"Our goal is to have coverage across the board in as many of our sports as possible in a relatively short period of time," Iamarino said in a released statement. "There are a lot of moving pieces to this. ... We expect viewers will see steady improvement in the manner in which the games are presented."

Events broadcast on television networks of national broadband services such as ESPN3 will not be shown on the SoCon Digital Network.

Conference championship in all sports will be covered on the new digital network.
