A 59-year old man from Viola, Tenn., was rescued Thursday evening from a fall in in the Sausage Cave in the Savage Gulf State Natural Area.
The man was reportedly traversing a canyon inside the cave when he fell 10 feet and sustained rib and pelvic injuries.
More than 30 rescuers participated in the extraction, which lasted 10 hours. He was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
