Bryan College opened Appalachian Athletic Conference volleyball play Thursday night with a 3-0 defeat of visiting Tennessee Wesleyan. Kara Stamper, the reigning AAC player of the week, had 10 kills in the 25-14, 25-19, 25-22 win, and Rachel Mosley and Ashley Mattoch each had seven. Taylor Fink had 35 assists, Madison Akins made 20 digs and Kristen Parrish served three aces for the Lady Lions (6-3 overall). Hayli Raines had seven kills and Olivia Holden and Chassity Taylor had 11 and 10 assists for TWC.

• Senior setter Kristen Pickett from Cleveland High School had 33 assists and 11 digs and reached 100 aces for her career in Carson-Newman's 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-17) volleyball rout of previously unbeaten Converse on Wednesday. Rachel Harper from Boyd-Buchanan had nine kills in the win.

• King University libero Payton Tipton from Cleveland High had 17 digs in a 3-1 win over host Concord University on Tuesday in Athens, Va. Before that she served the deciding points (the first on an ace) in the come-from-behind first set as the Tornado edged Alderson Broaddus in an ultra-close 3-0 match (26-24, 26-24, 25-23).

• Emory & Henry sophomore Kennady Thomason from Hixson High had 11 kills and was in on five blocks in a 3-2 win Tuesday against Bluefield State.

Golf

• Former Ooltewah High school standout Samantha Griffith of Lipscomb University was the Atlantic Sun women's golfer of the week after sharing medalist honors at 218 in her first collegiate tournament. She is the third player in program history to win the award.

Cycling

• King's Megan Rogers from Soddy-Daisy was the runner-up in the women's B mountain bike race at the East Tennessee State University cycling races last weekend. King riders won three races Saturday and Sunday.
