A man was shot Friday morning after a dispute that took place outside of Apple Barrel Antique Shop at 1267 Steele Road in Rossville, Ga., around 10:30 a.m., according to witnesses.

Three men who frequently spend time sitting on the front porch of the antique shop said what happened before their eyes Friday was a first.

"There is a lot of traffic here, but I have never seen any violence," said shop owner Harold Hensley.

The men watched as two cars -- a Monte Carlo and a four-door Honda -- stopped on the road in front of where they sat. Two men began shouting expletives at each other, witnesses said.

The man in the Monte Carlo got out of his car and walked toward the passenger side of the Honda parked behind him.

A woman was driving the car and it appeared that the men were fighting over her, according to Hensley.

"We heard them yelling and then we heard a 'pop!'" Hensley said. "The one man shot him from his car."

It appeared that the victim was shot in the abdomen, and he went back to the Monte Carlo and quickly drove away, witnesses said.

Police told Hensley that the victim drove to East Ridge Hospital and then was transferred to Erlanger.

After the shooting, the Honda pulled into the antique shop's parking lot beside where the three men were sitting. Hensley said that he was worried that the man was going to shoot at him and his friends, until they drove away down Mack Smith Road.

Hensley was able to get the tag number from the Honda and immediately called the police.

Fort Oglethorpe Chief of Police David Eubanks said later that the shooter has yet to be identified.

The victim's wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, according to Eubanks.
