ROAD REVIEW

Tennessee's last road win against a ranked team - at Georgia in 2006 - came nearly eight years and 19 games ago, and the Vols last knocked off a top-five team on the road at LSU in 2005. Tennessee's recent road history outside of the SEC, aside from the cross-state trips to Memphis, hasn't been much better.

Here's a look at the Vols' last 10 road nonconference games:

2013: (2) Oregon 59, Tennessee 14

Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 456 yards, tossed four touchdown passes and ran for a score as the Ducks ripped off eight consecutive touchdown drives after Tennessee scored the game's first TD.

2010: Tennessee 50, Memphis 14

Tyler Bray's coming-out party. In his first start, Tennessee's true freshman quarterback threw for 325 yards and five touchdowns, including one each to fellow freshmen Justin Hunter and Da'Rick Rogers. The Vols scored 50 straight after an early Tigers touchdown.

2008: UCLA 27, (18) Tennessee 24, OT

After throwing four interceptions in the first half, UCLA quarterback Kevin Craft led the Bruins to the upset on Labor Day night. Tennessee's Daniel Lincoln kicked a 47-yard field goal at the horn after a UCLA touchdown with 27 seconds left, but he missed from 34 yards in overtime.

2007: (12) California 45, (15) Tennessee 31

Justin Forsett ran for 156 yards and a touchdown and DeSean Jackson returned a punt for a touchdown as the Golden Bears outgained Tennessee 230-111 on the ground to exact revenge from the beating they took in Knoxville to open 2006.

2006: (15) Tennessee 41, Memphis 7

Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge threw four touchdown passes with just four incompletions in a 324-yard performance that paced the Vols' rout of the Tigers. A week later Tennessee went on the road and won at No. 10 Georgia.

2005: (8) Notre Dame 41, Tennessee 21

After Tennessee rallied from a 21-3 first-half deficit to tie the game late in the third quarter, Irish quarterback Brady Quinn threw a short pass to receiver Jeff Samardzija, and the current Oakland A's pitcher took it 73 yards to send Notre Dame to victory. Tom Zbikowski returned a punt and interception for scores.

2003: (18) Tennessee 10, (6) Miami (FL) 6

In snapping Miami's 26-game home winning streak, Tennessee got a touchdown run on an end-around to Derrick Tinsley on fourth-and-goal late in the first half and harassed Hurricanes quarterback Brock Berlin into two pickoffs and a fumble. Sean Taylor muffed a late punt that Tennessee recovered to seal it.

2001: (7) Tennessee 28, Notre Dame 18

Casey Clausen threw a touchdown pass to Donte Stallworth and scored on a sneak with 35 seconds left, but Tennessee's defense earned this win. The Vols forced a fumble right at the goal line, Julian Battle returned another one 81 yards for a touchdown and Dominique Stevenson's late interception sealed the victory.

2000: Tennessee 19, Memphis 17

After the Tigers scored a go-ahead touchdown with less than three minutes left, Alex Walls rescued the Vols from a second loss to Memphis with a game-winning 34-yard field with 13 seconds left.

1998: (10) Tennessee 34, (17) Syracuse

The win jumpstarted Tennessee's national championship run. Trailing 24-13 after three quarters, Syracuse rode Donovan McNabb's arm and legs back into the lead, only for Vols quarterback Tee Martin to answer. A fourth-down pass-interference penalty on the Orangemen set up Jeff Hall for a winning 27-yard field goal as time expired.
