Kristy Wieser has 13 kills in UTC volleyball win

Kristy Wieser had 13 kills and nine digs as the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga volleyball team won 3-1 Tuesday night at Austin Peay. The set scores were 25-21, 27-25, 12-25, 25-22.

Julimar Alvarado had nine kills and Anne Backmann and Lauren Greenspoon set 29 and 15 assists for UTC (5-7), who got 12 and 10 digs from Catherine Chason and Brianna Guzinski. Sarah Batterton and Lauren Gainer had seven kills apiece. Austin Peay dropped to 3-9.

• At Cleveland, Tenn., Lee edged North Alabama 3-2 (20-25, 25-23, 25-18, 24-26, 15-10) in a Gulf South match, as Latrice Johnson had 14 kills and 13 digs and Erin Hill had 10 kills, 25 assists and nine digs. Haley Foote had 19 assists and Catherine Conley added nine kills for Lee (1-3, 1-2), while Stephanie Hernandez and Sarah Davis had 22 and 12 digs.

Megan Gorey and Natasha Fomina had 20 and 17 kills for UNA (4-4, 2-2), and Andrea De Leon had 48 assists.

• At West Point, Ga., Tennessee Temple beat Point 3-1 as Victoria Smith had 19 kills and was in on 12 blocks and Kiara Govan and Shatoya Medford each had 22 digs with 28 assists for Govan and 11 blocks for Medford. Naomi Posada had 21 digs with nine kills for TTU (7-8).

• At Gainesville, Ga., Brenau held off Dalton State 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-20) in SSAC play. That dropped DSC to 5-3, 1-2.

• At Lookout Mountain, Ga., Trevecca Nazarene (7-3) got 18 kills from Katelyn Atkinson in a 3-0 (25-16, 33-31, 25-22) win over Covenant (9-4), which got 11 kills from Chelsea VanDyk, 17 and 14 assists from Stephanie Kirkpatrick and Jessica Seehorn and 24 and 16 digs from Chloe Carlson and Ginny Moore.

• Monday at Covenant, the Lady Scots' junior varsity scored the last six points and edged two-year school Georgia Northwestern 3-2 (25-16, 25-23, 21-25, 16-25, 15-13). In defeat, Mikiah Treece had 49 digs, Casey Chapman had 33 digs with 11 kills, Rachel McGill had 21 assists and six kills, Katlyn Bishop had 25 digs, Ashley Bradley had 11 assists and 16 digs, Sabrina Garcia had nine kills and 13 digs and Holly Mount had eight kills and four blocks.

Soccer Scots tied

Covenant College tied Oglethorpe 1-1 in Division III men's soccer Tuesday evening on Lookout Mountain.

Nick Muntean netted a free kick at 69:29 for the visiting Stormy Petrels (4-3-1), and Hudson Brock followed up a blocked Snoopy Davidson header with a header of his own for the tying goal at 84:03. Daniel Kubin made eight saves for Covenant (3-2-1).

• Maryville 5, Sewanee 0: At Sewanee, Thomas Palmer scored two goals as the visiting Scots rose to 4-2. His first goal gave them a 1-0 lead at halftime. Maryville had a 13-5 edge in shots, including 8-1 in the second half.
