Chattanooga Zoo gets national nod

The Chattanooga Zoo received accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums today after undergoing a detailed application and inspection process.

The association requires zoos and aquariums to meet standards in animal care, veterinary programs, conservation, education, and safety.

Jim Maddy, the association's president and CEO said this was something about which Chattanoogans should be proud.

"The community should take great pride in knowing that the Chattanooga Zoo is a proven leader in the care and conservation of wildlife, and in inspiring people to take action to protect the natural world," Maddy said.
