Dalton hanging focus of Friday ghost tour - Sept. 19

On Friday, Sept. 19, actors portraying historical figures will examine the events that led to the sole legal hanging in Dalton, Ga., (not counting lynchings) a century ago.

The live reenactment, presented by Dalton Ghost Tours, will focus on former Union soldier W.I. Umphrey, who came to Dalton in search of work and found what he was looking for on the farm of prominent citizen Joseph Pritchett.

The program will start and end at the wooden deck directly across from the Wink Theatre on West Crawford Street.
