Delaware authorities: Bus overturns, at least 1 dead

BEAR, Del. - Authorities say at least one person is dead after a bus crash in Delaware and several others are injured.

A spokesman for the New Castle County Department of Public Safety says at least one person died Sunday at the scene of the accident in the community of Bear. The official, Sgt. Michael McColley, says another 49 people were transported to area hospitals.

Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Shavack says the accident did not involve other vehicles and that the person who died was an adult female. Shavack says three to five others are in critical condition.

Photographs taken at the scene show the bus lying on the driver's side on a grassy shoulder of the roadway and at least two people with neck braces lying in the grass.
