Gravitt getting sworn in as new Tennessee state House District 30 representative on Tuesday

NASHVILLE - Republican Marc Gravitt of East Ridge will be sworn in Tuesday as the new representative for state House District 30, House Speaker Beth Harwell's office announced today.

The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. (CDT) in the House chamber. East Ridge City Judge J. Cris Helton will administer the oath of office, according to Harwell's office.

Gravitt won the GOP's nomination with no opposition in the Aug. 7 primary and has no opponent in the general election as well.

The seat had been held by fellow East Ridge Republican Vince Dean, who resigned the seat following his election as Hamilton County Criminal Court clerk.

Harwell, the House's top Republican leader, will be present at the ceremony along with several legislators and member of the community.
