MEMPHIS - Tennessee's Supreme Court has upheld the convictions and death sentences for a Memphis man who killed his brother, his two nephews and three other people in a house.
The state's highest court said Tuesday that it unanimously affirmed the six guilty verdicts of first-degree murder and subsequent death sentences for Jessie Dotson.
Dotson became angry with his brother, Cecil Dotson Jr., during an argument and shot him on March 2, 2008. He then killed Marissa Williams, Hollis Seals and Shindri Roberson, who also were in the house.
After killing the adults, Dotson murdered his brother's 2-year-old and 5-year-old sons and injured three other children, who were beaten and stabbed.
The Supreme Court stated that the murders and assaults "are some of the most horrendous ever committed in Tennessee."
