Tech Cast

This week in the column I discuss the current state of video online.

This week in the column I discuss the Apple iPad, data mining, and other recent stories.

I have written several articles on principles of creativity and problem-solving. This is obviously relevant to technology at all times, as this industry depends upon innovation and invention.

This week we look at peer-to-peer file sharing, Google’s social network, and some sore texting thumbs as we catch up with a few reader e-mails. recently ran an article called "Crucial Apps for Surviving the Student Summer." While the article targeted younger users, it reviewed some applications that could be of use to many of us. Here are a few of the applications discussed in the article.

Last week saw the long-awaited release of the newest Apple iPhone as well as the Verizon Droid X phone, the latest device running Google's Android operating system or OS. Both of these phones are stunning in their features and operation.

Today I’d like to address how to use social networks and YouTube to promote a business.

Today, I'll answer some questions from the in-box.

Cell phones and tablets are poised to become two of our primary computing interfaces. So-called smart phones, such as the Apple iPhone, RIM Blackberry and models based on Google's Android operating system, get most of the attention. Meanwhile, the Apple iPad dominates talk concerning tablet computing.

To promote a brand or blog, the place to start is with a pen and paper. Find a relaxed place to work away from your computer to begin, put the pen to paper and draw or list your central ideas in a simple way.

Of all the questions I receive via e-mails and at appearances, the one that is most on users' minds these days seems to be that of the impact of the Apple iPad (and tablets in general).

The prepaid cell phone model is becoming more common for broadband or fast-access Internet service. It is much more expensive than regular broadband access, but like all such services, it will probably come down in price over time.

Today some questions and answers from the e-mail inbox.

This week in the column I look at a few lessons we can learn from the study of music and technology.

This week in the column I draw some parallels between recent tech trends and the popular Seinfeld sitcom.
