A Tallahassee, Fla., man was arrested and brought back to Cherokee County, Ala., late last week.

Patrick Cox, 23, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, according to a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver.

The charge stems from an incident that allegedly occurred when a group of college students from Florida were visiting Cherokee County. The victim reported the crime to Tallahassee police, and they notified the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Investigator Tony Monroy and Chief Investigator Josh Summerford traveled to Tallahassee, met with Florida authorities, and conducted the investigation, resulting in Cox's arrest.

Cox was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center where he was booked on the charge.
