KNOXVILLE - Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jennings was kicked off the team Wednesday after he posted a profanity-riddled rant on Instagram.

In a video posted on the social media website, Jennings used several profanities and a racial slur repeatedly to express his displeasure with Tennessee's coaching staff.

"Please, Tennessee, send us a great coaching staff," Jennings said in part of the video. "Thank you. And I'm saving this video. It will not be deleted."

Interim coach Brady Hoke released a statement through a Tennessee athletics spokesperson saying, "In consultation with (athletic director) John Currie, I have made the decision to dismiss Jauan Jennings from our program. Representing the University of Tennessee football program is a privilege."

The junior from Murfreesboro injured his wrist in the season opener against Georgia Tech and has not played since.

Jennings' displeasure apparently stemmed from the fact that he was not cleared to play in Saturday's game against Vanderbilt.

Jennings was Tennessee's leading returning receiver entering the season and was poised to play a key role before his injury.

Best known for making a catch on a Hail Mary pass from Joshua Dobbs to beat Georgia in 2016, Jennings was viewed by his teammates as one of the most competitive players on the roster.

Tennessee is in the process of a coaching search after Butch Jones was fired on Nov. 12. A new coach could attempt to get Jennings reinstated but would likely need Currie's blessing.
