3H takes over Comfort Inn

Chattanooga hotel management company 3H Group is now operating the Comfort Inn Downtown Lookout Mountain on Chattanooga's Southside. The property at 2420 Williams St. was previously a Hampton Inn, managed by Lookout HI, LLC. 3H took over in early August and the hotel is the 11th managed by the company in Chattanooga, and the 19th for 3H overall.


Megahee buys Stone Cup Cafe

Stone Cup Cafe on Chattanooga's North Shore has been sold by founder Jennifer Stone to Chuck Megahee. The 16-year-old coffee shop at 330 Fraizer Ave. has updated decor and will be expanding the food menu as well as adding wine, coffee and beer selections, Megahee said. Stone sold the shop to concentrate on her coffee roasting business.


Tranco launches new subsidiary

Chattanooga-based third-party logistics provider Tranco Logistics launched a new subsidiary this month called Transcomp. The new company employs three people and handles trucking services, managing federal regulations and helping truckers stay on the road.


Maryville lands Surface Igniter

Surface Igniter LLC will relocate its headquarters and manufacturing facility from Puerto Rico and Ohio to a $3.8 million complex being built in Maryville, Tenn. The company pioneered the silicon carbide igniter in 1969 and is the leading manufacturer of hot surface igniters for heating and cooking equipment, clothes dryers and BBQ grills. Surface Igniter will initially employ 54 workers at the new Maryville plant and should double in size over the next three years.
