Six months after merging with South Carolina's biggest accounting firm, Chattanooga's biggest CPA firm is on the move again.

Elliott Davis Decosimo, which was created in January with the merger of Elliott Davis and Decosimo CPAs, is relocating its 140 employees this weekend three blocks north into the historic Miller Building. Decosimo, one of the anchor tenants of the Tallan Building when it was erected three decades ago, will vacate parts of four floors of the Tallan building and combine most of its staff on a single floor of the remodeled 120-year-old Miller building.

But while the Decosimo firm vacates much of the Tallan building, another floor in the 12-story Tallan office tower should soon house dozens of new office users.

Regus, the world's biggest office service company of its kind, has leased the 10th floor of the Tallan building and is renovating the 13,300-square-foot to provide up to 55 offices for members who sign up for the new type of office space and services.

"Our goal is to be about 30 percent full when we open on Aug. 3rd," said Stacey Crisp, general manager for the new Regus office center in Chattanooga. "I don't have any doubt that it will be full within a year."

Regus operates more than 2,300 business centers around the world, including nine other centers in Tennessee. Regus members will be able to rent anywhere from a 60-foot cubicle up to a 200-square-foot office. Members share a reception area and have access to other Regus centers, and may contract for other web, video, phone answering and other business services.

"This helps meet the needs of many individuals and businesses as work has evolved," Crisp said. "We're excited to be located in a Class A office downtown in the city's new innovation district and to be able to offer a vital business service for many professionals, startups and other businesses that don't necessarily want to sign a long-term lease and want access to the support we can offer."

Businesses come to Regus centers because they want to focus on their business, rather than where they run it from, Crisp said.

Regus has begun renovating the space that was vacated last year when the Chambliss law firm relocated from the Tallan Building into the top floors of the Liberty Tower.

For Elliott Davis Decosimo, the downtown office move will allow the accounting firm to have most of its staff together on 40,000 square feet of office space on a single floor and to offer a more modern layout, even within a more historic building at 629 Market Street. Client and employee parking will be housed nearby in the Republic Parking Garage, which is located in the 600 block of Broad and Chestnut Streets.

"We are thrilled to be moving into a space that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of our professionals and our clients," said Nick Decosimo, the managing shareholder for the Chattanooga office. "We spent time well in advance of this move getting feedback from our associates and our clients about features that would be most beneficial to them in an office space. We are confident our new location will provide a great atmosphere for our professionals and our clients for years to come."

The Chattanooga office of Elliott Davis Decosimo is one of 16 offices in the firm's regional network of more than 800 associates.
