Funky Junktion opens in Flintstone June 6

A new roadside attraction and bike rest stop known as Funky Junktion will open in north Walker County on June 6 with a grand opening weekend celebration.

Elizabeth Miller bought the countryside property at 1240 Chattanooga Valley Road for the big barn that will help house her art and antique collection. But she decided to also open the barn every weekend for performances and workshops featuring artists from around the globe. Funky Junktion also will offer refreshing drinks, water fountains, hammocks and comfy chairs for a shady rest-stop for bicyclists riding through Chattanooga Valley.

The grand opening of Funky Junktion June 6-7 will feature a two-day free jam session, including guitar greats Chuck Watts and Robert Lee Lucas.

"Players of all ages and abilities are encouraged to bring instruments including brass and percussion and plan to express yourselves freely," Miller said in the announcement of Funky Junktion.

Motorists who drive to Funky Junktion should park on the side of the street in front of the blue cottage at 1250 Chattanooga Valley Road at the junction of Highway 193 and Chattanooga Valley Road. Funky Junktion also features a pet cemetery and bed and breakfast for traveling guests. For more information, contact Elizabeth Miller 423-313-3427, or at wauhatchie@gmail.com.
