Project: Lee Pointe, Miller-Motte Technical College.
Owner: Pointe General Contractors, Chattanooga.
Location: 6397 Lee Highway.
Contractor: Pointe General Contractors.
Architect: Franklin Architects Associates, Inc., Chattanooga.
Engineers: Betts Engineering Associates, Inc., March Adams and Associates, Inc.
Cost for project: $4.2 million.
Size: 56,614 square feet.
Scope: The new building is part of a plan to redevelop the entire Lee Pointe site. It will be constructed with pre-cast concrete, which shortens completion time, and have a brick veneer. Pointe is implementing new stormwater drainage techniques to help the city meet federal stormwater runoff requirements. Part of the initiative calls for a chunk of asphalt to be removed from the parking lot and replaced with stone, which allows water to seep back into the ground.
History: The Lee Pointe development has been around since the mid-1980s. The site has been home to several retailers, including Circuit City, McKay's Used Books, America's Thrift Store and Rick Honeycutt's Sports.
Timeline: The Miller-Motte building is expected to be complete this December.
