Ben Rector has come a long way since his days as frontman for Newy Lewis and the Hues, his one-man Huey Lewis and the News cover band.

The Oklahoman took a break from songwriting in 2014 to sing and record all the parts of "Do You Believe in Love," "I Want a New Drug" and "Power of Love" to launch Newy Lewis. But Newy retired that same year - not long before Rector released his breakout album, "Brand New," in 2015.

Not only did "Brand New" bow at No. 9 on the Billboard Top 200, its title track was a massive hit.

Surpassing 41 million streams on Spotify, "Brand New" (the single) landed over 40 film and television placements, including a trailer for "The Edge of Seventeen," a TV ad for Disney's "Moana," a Weight Watchers campaign starring Oprah Winfrey, MLB World Series and Olympics ads.

At radio, the single went Top 5 hot adult contemporary and Top 30 pop.

In January, Rector released "Magic," his seventh album, led by its first single, "Drive."

"Magic" debuted at No. 1 on Bilboard's Americana/Folk albums chart and peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard 200.

Rector's tour in support of that album stops in Memorial Auditorium, 399 McCallie Ave., Thursday, March 21. Sirius XM's The Pulse Presents Ben Rector Magic: The Tour Part II starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29.50-$49.50.
