'AnTweaks Roadshow' at Chair-ries Jubilee

The Allied Arts Council of the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce will mark its 14th season of Chair-ries Jubilee tonight.

This year's art show/treasure hunt has an "AnTweaks Roadshow" theme. Family heirlooms, yard-sale bargains and long-lost items salvaged from attics and basements have been tweaked by artists and artisans and given new life. Proceeds from sales raise funds to promote the arts in schools and the community at large.

The Chair-ries Jubilee auction has raised more than $290,000 since 2000, according to Nancy Neal, vice president of communications for the Cleveland/Bradley County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber's Allied Arts Council sponsors the event.

"These monies provide annual funding for teachers to receive grants for up to $500 for viable art programs that they wish to bring to their classrooms, as well as for visiting artists to appear in area schools," she said in a news release.

Ten regional chefs and restaurants will provide tasting stations while patrons peruse the artworks.

A silent auction and social hour begin at 6 p.m. at the Museum Center at Five Points, 200 E. Inman St. The live auction is set for 8 p.m.

Tickets are $25 at the door. Call 423-472-6587 or 423-473-1114 to inquire about availability.
