Students from the Hilltop Players and Music Department at Bryan College will combine their talents next week for a five-night run of the revised musical comedy "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."

The play is based on the comic strip "Peanuts" by Charles M. Schulz and features a book, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner. The revised version opened on Broadway in 1999, refreshing the 1967 classic.

The storyline captures "an average day in the life" of the famed cartoon character. Vignettes from all the days of Charlie Brown -- from Valentine's Day to baseball season, from wild optimism to utter despair -- are mixed in with the lives of his friends (human and nonhuman) and strung together as scenes from a single day.

Its songs include "My Blanket and Me," "Suppertime" and "Happiness."

The play will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Oct. 29-Nov. 2, in Brock Hall on the Dayton, Tenn., campus, 721 Bryan Drive.

Tickets, which may be purchased in advance, are $8 for students, $10 for adults.
