A Holiday Every Day

Holiday Bowl hosting Halloween costume contest

Holiday Bowl is hosting a Halloween party for bowling enthusiasts Oct. 27 at both its locations, featuring a costume contest, prizes, games and, of course, plenty of Galactic Bowling.

"The party is from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.," says Brittiney Grimes, general manager. "We have a variety of people who come in. Most of the time there are more adults because it is held later in the evening, but it is still family-friendly and can be fun for everyone."

Fridays and Saturdays are typically Galactic Bowl night; the Saturday Halloween party will pack in the same laser light show, black lights and plenty of music to make the special event even more fun. Entrance costs $15.56 per person plus shoe rental.

Both locations of the popular bowling alley cater for events, offering packages where large groups can rent a couple of lanes, half or the whole bowling alley if they want. The catering menu offers a variety of healthy and hearty selections.

The wrap platter comes with 30 total pieces of guests' choice of three different styles of rollup sandwiches, stuffed with either turkey, roast beef, chicken Caesar or veggie fillings. The festival fruit platter is a light dessert with a variety of fruits that change upon availability, but might include fresh pineapple, grapes, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe and honeydew melons. Holiday Bowl's deli tray also offers a lighter selection, with deli meats and cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and condiments served with freshly baked rolls.

The heartier side of the catering menu features a selection of 16-inch pizza pies with 24 slices each that are topped with an Italian cheese blend and guests' choice of toppings. Other platters available for groups at the bowling alleys include finger-licking favorites like nachos, chicken tenders, chips and salsa, potato skins, onion rings and wings.

At the Brainerd Holiday Bowl location there are four drop-down screens that hang above the lanes. Grimes says if someone wants to host a football bowling party, they could watch their game and eat pizza and wings while they bowl.

"It gets you out of the house and gives you something fun to do that everyone can do," she says. "Everyone always has a good time. If you have teenagers and little kids, it is something they can do together."
