Mother's Finest headlines at Thunder Creek Trail of Tears ride kickoff party

Funk-rock icons Mother's Finest will headline today's Trail of Tears kickoff party at Thunder Creek Harley-Davidson, 7720 Lee Highway.

Performing at 1 p.m. will be Leverage. Cross Plains will play at 4 p.m., and Mother's Finest, best known for the classic "Baby Love," will take the stage at 8 p.m. There is no admission charge.

In addition to the live music, American Indian food, drink and other vendors will be on hand.

The actual ride is Saturday and will take off from Riverfront Parkway and M.L. King Boulevard at 8 a.m.

Mother's Finest was formed in Atlanta by Joyce Kennedy and Glenn Murdock in the early '70s. Their other hits were "Fire," "Don't Wanna Come Back," "Love Changes" and "Piece of the Rock."
