Stuff the bus with tax-free supplies

During tax-free weekend, Hamilton Place mall is teaming with the United Way of Greater Chattanooga for the second annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive.

Volunteers will be stationed at mall entrances 11 a.m.-7 p.m. today and Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday to collect supplies or donations of money that can be used to purchase school supplies.

The mall will be open extended hours: 9 a.m.-10 p.m. today and Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

Supplies that are needed include backpacks, No. 2 pencils, black or blue ink pens, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, pencil holders, erasers, dry-erase markers (such as Expo brand), crayons, notebook paper, spiral-bound subject notebooks, copy paper (white and colors), pocket folders, glue sticks, scissors, rulers, facial tissue, paper towels, zipper-lock bags (gallon size) and disinfectant wipes with bleach.

Supplies will be distributed to nonprofit organizations that serve students in need through United Way's 2-1-1 Resource Center.
