'Dance Around the World' at CDM

A summer program promoting Chattanooga's cultural diversity starts Saturday at Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St. "Dance Around the World" will showcase traditional folk dances by three local groups, one a month through August.

Kicking off the series at 2 p.m. Saturday is the Sai Natyalaya classical Indian dance group. A Chinese dance group will perform July 16, and Costa Rican dancers will be featured Aug. 20.

All three dance groups will provide one-on-one instruction and demonstrations to children and adults interested in learning more about the culture's dance, movement and history. Performers will be in traditional costumes.

Programs are free with regular admission into the museum ($10.95 for children and adults). Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today and Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Sunday. Extended summer hours begin Monday, when the museum will be open 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily through Aug. 14.
