'Extreme' viewing party

We've seen the finished house in news coverage, but Sunday a national audience will be watching Rossville's Sharrock family take their sentimental journey to a new home on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The show airs at 8 p.m. on WTVC NewsChannel 9, the local ABC affiliate.

Chattanoogans can join the Sharrocks - Michael, Cindy and son Patrick - as well as the builders for an "Extreme" viewing party at Chattanooga's Metropolitan Tabernacle, Highway 153 at the airport exit (1A).

The viewing party, scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m., will feature music by Praise Chamber and Mountain Cove, special guests and heartwarming presentations before the episode begins, according to organizers. All who volunteered or followed the home's progress are invited to join the celebration.

Doors at Metro Tab will open at 6 p.m. Seating is general admission. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Behind-the-scenes DVDs and photo CDs will be available for purchase to benefit the OI Foundation and Alhambra Shriners.

Admission is free, but organizers are encouraging all who attend to bring a donation to one of the following organizations.

* Hope and Help International: Collecting items to aid in tornado disaster relief. Needed items include bottled water, toiletries, baby formula, diapers, blankets, health and beauty items and nonperishable foods.

* The OI Foundation will be selling fundraising wristbands for $3 each to raise funds for osteogenesis imperfecta, a condition causing extremely fragile bones.

* Alhambra Shriners: Donations accepted to help transport burned, crippled and sick children to nearby Shriners hospitals.

* Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga: Will offer information on how to sign up to help build and repair homes for the needy in our community.
