Creative Discovery Museum celebrates 16th birthday

Creative Discovery Museum turns Sweet 16 on Saturday, and Bob the Builder is coming to the birthday party.

Bob the Builder and his Can-Do Crew are featured in the summer exhibit at the children's museum. "Project: Build It" will teach kids the nuts and bolts of getting the job down through exploration, teamwork and environmentally friendly building practices, according to museum officials.

Kids who spend time in Sunflower Valley will take on projects that build can-do attitudes. Families can work together to install new parts to sinks in Bob the Builder's mobile home and in his building workshop, as well as learn about water conservation, courtesy of exhibit presenter Delta Faucet Co. There's also a chance to help Bob build a vehicle shelter and experiment with tools in the workshop.

The 2,000-square-foot multimedia exhibit was produced by HIT Entertainment and The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. "Project: Build It" continues through Sept. 11.

The museum will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Birthday cake and ice cream will be served, and Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga will present Theatre Games at 2 p.m. The 30-minute session gives children 4 and older a chance to produce a play with activities that put them behind the scenes and onstage.

Creative Discovery Museum is at 321 Chestnut St. Admission is $10.95. For more information, call 756-2738 or visit www.cdmfun.org.
