Slots were still available at press time for teams to compete in the Chattanooga Mud Run. The 5K race features a military-style obstacle course with most of the obstacles surrounded by or, in some cases, consisting entirely of mud. Among the 20-plus obstacles are walls, icy mud baths and tunnels.

Cost to enter is $250 for a team of five, plus a $5 transaction fee per person. There is no charge for spectators.

The run takes place at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Greenway Farms, 5051 Gann Store Road in Hixson. After the mud comes music, with local rock bands Soul Mechanic, Endelouz and Queen Lightning playing at the after-party.

Proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase by Starbucks, Milk & Honey, Lupi's Pizza, Good Dog, Lockhart's barbecue and Kona Ice.
