Creative Discovery Museum will offer a sweet celebration with its second annual Chocolate Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14

Families will be able to make cocoa butter lotion, sample three types of chocolate and attend a truffle-making demonstration. But there's more to this chocolate fix than the basics of aroma and taste.

Visitors also will learn about chocolate's history, lore, science and appeal.

Visitors will learn how chocolate pods are picked, fermented, dried, roasted and blended to make different forms of chocolate. And -- the piece de resistance -- children can make a Jackson Pollack-inspired chocolate expressionistic edible work in the museum's Art Studio.

"Chocolate is a universal joy for children and adults," says Liza Blair, arts manager. "This event is a great way for guests to enjoy the lore and decadence of chocolate."

Events will be held from noon to 4 p.m. The museum, 321 Chestnut St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities are included with paid admission of $11.95.
