Children ages birth to 12 will be running through Soddy Park and Soddy Kids Club ball fields gathering 5,000 eggs hidden at the inaugural Community Easter Egg Hunt April 23 from 4 to 6 p.m.

"We would like to use the ball fields, grassy areas, the playground, tennis courts and basketball court for the event," said Christ Family Church children's director Tim Cochran. "This is our first time to go out into the community in this fashion. It is part of our outreach ministry to let people know who we are and let them get to know us."

Egg hunts for ages 0-3, 4-7, 8-10, 11-12 and an egg hunt for special needs children all ages will take place simultaneously. The eggs will be plastic in shades of yellow, pink, blue, green, purple and orange with candy or other prizes inside.

Hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold to benefit the Christ Family Church children's ministry. Cochran said people can fill out tickets to win prizes like oil changes and restaurant gift certificates at the end of the egg hunt. A raffle will also give away a boy and girl Easter basket. A Soddy-Daisy fire truck will be on-site for children to see.
