Santa to a Senior program ends Dec. 12

Home Instead Senior Care network has partnered with seven local agencies to provide gifts and companionship to senior adults who otherwise might not receive either this holiday season. "Be a Santa to a Senior" drive continues through Dec. 12.

Amedisys Hospice, Life Care of Collegedale, NHC of Chattanooga, Partnership for Families, Children and Adults, Alexian Brothers Senior Neighbors and Widows Harvest have identified needy and isolated seniors whose first names only are on ornaments decorating Christmas trees in area Walgreen's stores.

Holiday shoppers are asked to choose an ornament, buy items on its wish list and return the items, unwrapped, to the store, along with the ornament attached. They will be delivered to the recipients by the nonprofits.

"Many older adults continue to struggle in a down economy, particularly those who live alone with no family nearby to help provide resources," said James Gardenhire, owner of the Home Instead Senior Care.
