BARRY COURTER: Lisa, it appears we are inFESTed with events this time of year. We've already had a Who-Fest and a HubFest and now this week, we have a Roots Fest, a Maifest and a MooFest. That's a lot of kettle corn.
We could probably write a song about it.
LISA DENTON: I'll get right on that. First though, I'll remind you that at Roots Fest you can listen to 25 bands. At Maifest you can wear your lederhosen. And at MooFest, you can take part in a frozen T-shirt contest or compete to see who has the best moo (cows not included).
There's also a festival celebrating strawberries at Chattanooga Market, as well as dragon boat races to raise money for Children's Hospital at Erlanger this weekend at Chickamauga Dam.
If all that doesn't put you in a festive mood, maybe you should head out to the Memorial Day Music Festival in LaFayette, Ga., (not held on Memorial Day) or the Boogie at the Barn in Cleveland, Tenn. (which does live up to its name).
BARRY: And if that wasn't enough to choose from, A Night To Remember on Saturday has a really good lineup for all the old-school music lovers with The Isley Brothers, Morris Day & The Time and Mint Condition. I might have to do The Bird right here on the spot.
Seven Handle Circus is the second Nightfall act of the year on Friday, and my old friend Tommy "Hey Now" Jett has recovered from his car crash well enough to be hard at work planning his annual Entertainers Reunion. I spoke to Tommy last week, and he said the Sunday event will be at Sugar's Downtown, and he hopes it is the biggest one ever. They have a private gathering for veteran musicians and television and radio veterans first, and then at 3 p.m. everyone is invited to meet, mingle, eat and listen to a dozen or so musical acts.
It's a good time, and proceeds will go to Hospice of Chattanooga.
LISA: It looks like all the people putting on events around the region decided to bypass Memorial Day weekend and hold everything the weekend before. So yes, the schedule is jam-packed for the next few days. I have to tell you, though, there's only so much funnel cake a girl can eat.
BARRY: That's why God gave us kettle corn, too.
