Nashville judge overturns death sentences for pair

NASHVILLE - A Nashville judge has overturned the death sentences of two men who were convicted in one of Nashville's most notorious murder cases and then condemned to die for two other slayings.

Gdongalay Berry and Christopher Davis were sentenced to death for the 1996 murders of two cousins after jurors were allowed to hear that they'd been previously convicted of killing 12-year-old Adriane Dickerson.

The girl's 1995 murder inspired a hit song by country singer Vince Gill. But the conviction in her case was overturned after it was shown that a key witness lied about seeing the killing.

Last week Criminal Court Judge Randall Wyatt ordered new sentencing for the pair while refusing to throw out their convictions for the double murder.
