Ray Vance Mathews will not be granted bond while a federal grand jury considers indicting him, his wife and daughter and the daughter's boyfriend on an array of federal charges.
Should he be indicted, Mathews faces arraignment April 27.
All four - Mathews and his wife, Kathleen Mathews, daughter Rachel Mathews and boyfriend James Poteete - face charges of accessory after the fact, possession of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence and misprision of a felony, the withholding of knowledge about a committed felony to authorities.
The parents also face charges of disposing firearms to a convicted felon.
The Mathews parents and the boyfriend, James Poteete, were arrested Friday. They are charged with helping Jesse Mathews avoid Colorado authorities and with supplying him with weapons. Prosecutors say Jesse Mathews shot Chattanooga Police Sgt. Tim Chapin to death April 2 during an armed robbery at the U.S. Money Shops pawnshop on Brainerd Road.
Federal authorities also said today that Mathews is scheduled for an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Chattanooga on May 2. She has been in custody in Buncombe County, N.C.
Ray Mathews and Kathleen Mathews have been in federal custody since Friday. Kathleen Mathews waived her detention hearing.
James Poteete was freed on bond Friday.
