Accused shooter Jerrico Hawthorne has late August court date

A 24-year-old man accused of shooting another man to death during a home robbery has a court date set for later this month.

Jerrico Hawthorne is scheduled to be in Hamilton County General Sessions Court on Aug. 30 to face charges of murder in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and three counts of especially aggravated robbery in connection with the incident.

The victim, 23-year-old James Williams Jr., was shot at least 14 times during a robbery on July 27, according to a Hamilton County medical examiner's report.

Hawthorne's girlfriend, Lequela Lanette Bailey, 25, also is set to appear in General Sessions Court on Aug. 30 on a charge of accessory after the fact after she did not turn him in to police. After the shooting, she was found inside a hotel room with him, according to arrest reports.

General Sessions Judge Bob Moon set both dates today in his courtroom.

Williams' girlfriend, Yetta Harris, 38, also was shot in the chest and stomach during the robbery, but she is expected to recover, authorities said.
