Another candidate emerged today as a possible contender for Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger's District 3 commission seat.
George Patten, of Hixson, said he will apply for the job. Patten in 2009 ran for the District 3 City Council seat.
"Mr. Patten believes that his 20 years experience in manufacturing management gives him an understanding of the need for a well trained work force," read the press release. "He is looking forward to job growth through new businesses and growth in existing businesses."
Another candidate, Middle Valley Church of God pastor Mitch McClure, said he is also interested. Commissioners will on Thursday officially begin the process of selecting a replacement.
