NASHVILLE - Two Southeast Tennesseans will join the board of the University of Tennessee Foundation starting July 1, according to the university.
Longtime UT system and UT-Chattanooga supporter Brenda Lawson, CEO of Brenda Lawson & Associates in Cleveland, Tenn., and River City Co. CEO Kim White, a member of the University of Chattanooga Foundation Board, are among 10 new members added to the board today.
"We are very excited to add such an outstanding and dedicated group of individuals to our board," said University of Tennessee Foundation Board Chairwoman Andrea Loughry in a news release.
She said the new members' "experience and passion for the University of Tennessee will be great assets as we move to increase private gift support for the university by $100 million annually by 2020 for UT's students and faculty."
The UT Foundation is an independent, nonprofit group created in 2001 to support UT's educational, research and public activities through alumni engagement, financial stewardship, and private gift support.
Others named to the Tennessee Foundation include UT trustee Spruell Driver, of Nashville; Sandie Fancher, of Gainesville, Ga.; RIVR Media CEO Dee Haslam, of Knoxville; Memphis dermatologist Bob Kaplan; Knoxville Deputy Mayor Larry Martin; John Tickle, president of Bristol, Va.-based Strongwell Corp.; Dr. Steve Schwab, chancellor of the UT Health Science Center; and Dr. Jan Williams, dean of the UT Knoxville College of Business Administration.
