Chattanooga: Man hospitalized after threat

The Chattanooga police SWAT team was called to secure a 43-year-old man threatening to harm himself while barricaded in a 13th Avenue home with a gun, according to a police news release.

Police were called to the home just after 6 p.m. Thursday. When an hourlong attempt to talk him out failed, SWAT was called to remove him for his safety and the safety of others, police said.

Within moments of activating the team, the man surrendered and was transported to a local hospital for observation, police said.
