Girls attacked by bulldogs

Two young girls were taken to T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital after they sustained dog bites to their faces, according to Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The girls, ages 5 and 6, were outside playing at 2016 Sticher Trail when, Wayman Sims the owner of a mixed bulldog and English bulldog, turned the dogs loose to exercise just before 7 p.m. Wednesday, said Public Information Officer Janice Atkinson in a released statement.

Once released, the dogs attacked the 5-year-old girl. The other girl started screaming and she also was attacked.

Sims heard the screams and ran outside to pull the dogs away, Atkinson said.

The Humane Society was called to the scene and Sims was interviewed. Both dogs will be quarantined for 10 days and tested for rabies.
