DeKalb, Ala., authorities arrest three in separate drug busts

As DeKalb County, Ala., authorities were searching for three different men wanted on outstanding warrants, they located one smoking pot and another making meth, Sheriff Jimmy Harris said.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Dewey Scott, 48, on Sunday night, but as they were searching his home authorities found Scott's son hiding in the bathroom smoking a joint, authorities said.

Scott was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana 2nd and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, while his 22-year-old son Leslie Scott was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a traffic-related offense, said Harris in a news release.

But as deputies headed to the DeKalb County Jail, they got a call from officers on the south end of the county suspicious of a possible meth lab, Harris said.

Investigators then located an active meth lab in a shed behind the house along with a small quantity of meth inside, Harris said.

Officers than arrested Darrell David, 43, and charged him with multiple drug charges including manufacturing controlled substance second degree. David also had four outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court on past charges, Harris said.

All three are still in jail.
