1 killed as storms move through Georgia

ATLANTA - Rain and high winds have moved across north Georgia, and tornado watches and warnings have been issued for much of the state.

One person was reported killed when a tree fell on an SUV.

Capt. Tim House of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says the unidentified person was killed when a tree fell on the vehicle near the Fulton County line.

The National Weather Service says a tornado warning was issued Wednesday for portions of Lamar, Pike, Harris, Upson, Meriwether and Talbot counties.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for portions of Chattahoochee, Union and Fannin counties.

A tornado watch is in effect for portions of the state until 9 p.m.
