Walker authorities looking for cigarette-theft suspect

The Walker County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who broke into a gas station and stole more than $3,000 worth of cigarettes on Sunday.

Authorities believe a white man driving a minivan threw a large rock through the Flintstone Food Market front window around 3:30 a.m.

The man then loaded a 55-gallon trash can with 74 cartons of cigarettes, Sheriff Steve Wilson said in a news release. The suspect then jumped back in the minivan and drove north on Chattanooga Valley Road.

A motorist passed the store, spotted the man and called 911, Wilson said. The suspect is described as tall and slender.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Walker County Sheriff's Office at 706-638-1909.
