Notre Dame High School football coach Josh Sellers has resigned after three seasons with the program. Sellers was to tell the team Monday afternoon and the school will also introduce assistant coach Charles Fant as the new head coach.

Sellers compiled a 9-22 overall record with the Fighting Irish, including 5-6 last season when the team lost in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.

He had served as an assistant for one season prior to being promoted to head coach in February of 2009. Before coming to Chattanooga, Sellers was the head coach for five years at his alma mater, St. Francis High School in Traverse City, Michigan, where he went 57-7 overall, winning state championships in 2003 and 2005.

Fant has previously worked as an assistant at Boyd-Buchanan.
