CLEVELAND, Tenn. - A combination of muscle relaxers and cough syrup landed two freshmen at Walker Valley High School in the hospital.

"We want to express our concern for the students and their families," said Johnny McDaniel, director of Bradley County Schools in a news release. "They are in our thoughts and prayers at this time."

The two unidentified boys first were taken to SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland after apparently taking the potent mixture while at school Friday morning and later were transported to T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital at Erlanger, said Stan Clark, spokesman for Bradley County EMS.

The condition of the students had not been released as of Friday afternoon.

One student is 15 years old, and the other is assumed to be of similar age, said Clark.

The matter is under investigation by the Bradley County Sheriff's Office, according to department spokesman Bob Gault.

Bradley County EMS responded to a call placed at 8:13 a.m. for one of the students, said Clark. At 9 a.m., EMS received an emergency call for a second student at the high school.

"The Bradley County School System is proactive within all schools to inform students of the dangers of drugs, including the abuse of over-the-counter and prescription drugs," said McDaniel. "We emphasize the health and well-being of our students and encourage them to make good choices and to take care of their bodies."
