Alabama man, teen arrested on drug charges

An Alabama man and a teenage woman were arrested Thursday night on drug charges, authorities said.

James Tyler Jones, 22, of Woodville, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, according to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Whitney Paige Rollins, 18, of Woodville, was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, the release said.

Both were taken to the Jackson County Jail where Rollins was released on a $1,000 bond while Jones remains in custody on an $8,000 bond, the release said.

On Thursday night, an officer in the sheriff's Narcotics Unit checked a vehicle parked beside a local business at Highway 79 and Highway 35 in Scottsboro, Ala., the release said. The officer found small amounts of marijuana, synthetic marijuana known as spice and methamphetamine, the release said.
