Sun Dial rotating restaurant in Atlanta to close for makeover

ATLANTA - The popular rotating restaurant atop a downtown Atlanta hotel will close temporarily for renovations.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View above the Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel is set to begin renovations later this month. The 35-year-old restaurant is scheduled to serve its final dinner April 28 and is expected to be closed through early August.

The planned makeover includes soothing textiles, dimensional art, woodwork and pendant lighting throughout. A Sun Dial spokeswoman says the chef also plans to update the menu with more farm-to-table choices.

This marks the restaurant's first closure since 2008 when a tornado hit downtown Atlanta and knocked out thousands of windows at the 73-story Westin.
