JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - One man has died in East Tennessee after being shot by Jefferson City police who responded to a call of someone being threatened with a knife.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Kristin Helm said 51-year-old Tracy Lynn Daniel refused commands to drop the weapon and advanced toward officers with a knife.
Helm said in an email that two officers fired their weapons, hitting Daniel, who died at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. An autopsy was planned.
The names of the officers were not released.
The incident happened around 9:20 a.m. EDT today.
