Georgia preschooler brings loaded gun to school

GRIFFIN, Ga. - School officials in Spalding County say a preschool student will likely be disciplined for bringing a loaded gun to school.

A letter to parents from Jordan Hill Elementary School Principal Anthony Aikens says the preschooler brought the gun to school in his backpack Tuesday, and a teacher brought the bag to the principal. District officials say parents will likely receive the letter on Wednesday.

Griffin-Spalding County Schools spokeswoman Judy Parker says the principal called police and the child's parents.

In the letter, Aikens reminds parents to speak with their children about appropriate school behavior and to keep weapons out of children's reach.

Griffin is about 37 miles south of downtown Atlanta.
