University of Tennessee at Chattanooga police officers apprehended one suspect Monday evening and are seeking a second suspect in connection with an armed robbery earlier in the day.

It was the second armed robbery on campus in eight days and comes amid the end of exams.

Chico D. Baugus, 23, of Antioch, Tenn., faces charges of robbery, property theft, general drug possession for resale, possession of drugs in a school zone and resisting arrest. He was apprehended near campus in a car believed to be stolen from Antioch.

UTC police say it appears that the two students who reported the robbery had met the two suspects before. Two laptop computers and two cell phones were reported stolen.

UTC police recovered all the property, according to Chuck Cantrell, associate vice chancellor.

Campus police believe this was not a random crime, and that this event bears no connection to a Dec. 1 armed robbery on campus.

The investigations into both incidents continue, and UTC maintains a police presence initiated after the Dec. 1 incident, Cantrell said.
